I love painting light. The way it falls on a scene can totally transform the feel of the painting. For this study, I wanted to capture the light as it falls on a small mountain village in both the early morning and evening. I started with the early morning light, painting the houses with a warm yellow light. The sun was just peeking over the mountains, and the village was still asleep. In the evening, the light was a softer tone, and the village was settling in for the night. It was a beautiful contrast, and I'm really happy with how it turned out!
