Dagmar had always been an unlucky man. No matter what he did, things just never seemed to go his way. So when he was told he had to make a long journey to see the Lord of Invergordon, he wasn't too surprised when all sorts of disasters started happening along the way. First, his horse went lame, forcing him to travel with his goat, and then he got lost in the forest when he was running from wolves. To top it all off, the purpose of his journey was to be told that the land he lived on and had inherited from his father had been given to a local alderman. As a replacement, Dagmar was given an undesirable plot of land in the marshy moors, far to the west of his old home. He thought things couldn't possibly get any worse.
