I gravitate to illustrating fantasy or medieval scenes because I love the idea of visiting new worlds or a new time. A time where there might be magic and beasts! It's an outlet that allows me to explore things like what it would look/feel like to be gathered together with a small force of medieval soldiers, planning an invasion of some sort.
